Purls and Lace

Just some thoughts on my day, my knitting, and life in general

Okay, I have come to the conclusion that I should only knit vests or sleeveless summer tops. I am on the third incarnation of the first sleeve for the Sonnet. It looks really good without the sleeves! Frustration can get the better of me. I think it's time to stop for a bit. Maybe knit a baby hat or two!

I finished the Fun Fur/Trillino scarf last night. I am not sure that I like it that much. I will have to play with it a little to figure out what I want to wear it with. I'll post a picture later.

Well, this week has been pretty hectic in many ways. Lots of knitting, but stressful. Hubby's father had surgery on his carotid artery. We spent Thursday and Friday at the hospital, and came home on Saturday. The surgery went very well, and he is already home. I was able to knit quite a bit. I worked more on the Sonnet, which I thought I was going to have to stop due to lack of yarn. Since I had bought the yarn from someone through the Knitswap list, already knitted into a partial sweater, I didn't think I would be able to find anymore yarn to match. But I won a E-bay auction for 10 skeins of Classic Elite Maya in dusty rose. I couldn't tell from the picture on Ebay if it would match, but I got it on Wednesday afternoon before we left for Stockton. It is a perfect match. I wouldn't doubt if it's even the exact same dyelot. So, I started on the sleeves. I put a box stitch on the edge, and am not doing the box stitch up the sleeve. Almost completely done with the first sleeve.

I also finished a Fun Fur/Cool Wool scarf for my daughter. Quick, simple, mindless garter stitch which was great for hospital knitting. I also started on a Shape It Scarf out of Silk City Fibers Trillino and Fun Fur. I should probably finish that tonight. It's in Sage and Confetti. I think it's turning out great for a spring scarf. In fact, I have a pale green business suit that it will match perfectly. I should make a Shapely Tee Shirt out of the rest of the Sage Trillino to go with it.

Well, even though I have an loads of yarn and fiber, I still went out and bought some more yarn today. I found a really pretty light blue Imagine for the next sweater in line, the BPT for my daughter. I hope the fluffiness of the yarn isn't too much for the cables.

Here's a pic of my Sonnet Sweater. It's coming along rather quickly. I, hopefully, will finish the rest of the back and the left front today, and on to the sleeves tomorrow.

So, I guess I should post here every once in a while. I am currently working on my Sonnet sweater. I am doing out of a wool yarn I got from someone on Knitswap a couple of years ago. I don't really remember what yarn this is, but it has a really nice feel, and I love the color which is a sort of a rose. I will post pictures later, when I am at home.

There is also a knit textured baby blanket in a lavendar mercerized cotton on the needles, and a knit baby sweater in a really soft cotton, I believe it's Bernat's Cotton Tots, in baby blue to finish sewing up. Oh, yeah, and the light sage crocheted baby blanket out of Simply Soft to finish. I think I need to take an inventory of all of my projects and my stash so that I know what is really there. Time to pull out the old palm pilot to keep track for when I go shopping.

Today is the first day of Stitches-West up in Oakland, but I don't think I am going to go. I have been sorely disappointed in the last two year's Markets which I thought was extremely small for the hassle it is to go up to Oakland fighting the traffic on 880, and then to find and pay for parking. I will wait until CNCHS in April here at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Much closer and tons and tons of parking. Also, next year I understand that Stitches will also be at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Yeah!!!!

New Year, New Blog

I started this blog to record and talk about my knitting and spinning efforts for the year. I love fiber, any kind of fiber, and have lots and lots of yarn and fiber. I decided it was time to stop collecting and to start doing things with all of this stash. Hence the blog. I may rant or rave about other things going on in my life, but I will try my hardest to stick to knitting and spinning.
