Purls and Lace

Just some thoughts on my day, my knitting, and life in general

I have scarves coming out of my ears!

So beside the bubblegum scarf that I started for my daughter, I have also started a multidirectional scarf out of some ebay purchase yarn which is kind of like strands of really soft leather in a blueish purple colorway. And my sister-in-law asked me to knit her two scarfs out of eyelash type yarn in hot pink. I started those also. She is going to be working in a friends candy store which opened this last week, and the inside is painted in hot pink. I love doing things for people who ask, and appreciate my knitting. Which is why I am so determined to find something to knit for my other sister-in-law. I saw a picture on the web of a woman who doesn't seem very tall, and is a little ample wearing the candle flam shawl, and it looked great on her, so I have decided to finish the candle flame shawl for her.

The hot pink eyelash scarves are being knit from Eskimo yarn. I had never seen it before, but my LYS had it in hot pink, so I figured it was a sign... well I better get knitting.

As promised, here's a picture of the bubblegum scarf I started for my daughter last night. It didn't come out that good, as I used my phone to take the picture. For a camera phone it takes pretty decent pictures, but I could have just walked into the other room, and grabbed the Kodak... Okay, so I am lazy

Knitting Frustration....

I have started about six different things to knit for my DSIL for Christmas. My original thought was the Sonnet Sweater since she admired mine so much, but I think it was too soon after finishing mine that I started that, and it just was borriing! So then I started a scarf, but didn't like that idea at all. I mean she can buy herself a scarf at Target, just not original enough. So, then I started the Candle Flame shawl, and despite the fact that it is coming out beautifully (pictures later) I realized that in order to make it large enough to fit around her it would be dragging on the ground in the back. So then, I started a rectangle shawl, but the pattern for the shawl was not looking as elegant as the Candle Flame Shawl so I gave up on that. I just don't know what to make her. I want it to be stunning, and practical and functional. I'm thinking of something that she can use to keep warm while she is doing "yard duty" at school. She's a second grade teacher. So for the practicality part of it, I am knitting it out of Wool-Ease in a beautiful peacock blue. This way it's wash and wear. I have knit a double knit scarf for my hubby out of Wool-Ease which washes and dries just great. But what to make...?

So, to appease myself while trying to figure that out, I am knitting my daughter yet another scarf. It's out of Bernat's LuLu. She picked the yarn and the color. It's a variegated pink and white which is just about the softest yarn I have knit with in a long time. (Again, pictures later). At the time that we bought the LuLu I also bought some Caron's Simply Soft and some Fun Fur to match. And just the other day I saw a pattern for a hat which uses Simply Soft and Fun Fur... I'll be making that.

Well, DD just got in (extremely late!!) so I am going to bed..
