Purls and Lace

Just some thoughts on my day, my knitting, and life in general

When it Rains it Pours.....

So, the evening of my last post, I received a telephone call from my son's friend.

"Uh, Paulette, you need to come down to the hospital on McKee. There's been an accident at "DS"'s work."

Okay, this is bad enough, except DS works at a shooting range...with guns! I thought I was going to faint. Fortunately, DS's other friend grabs the phone, and says it's only his finger, and he's going to be fine, but he wants you here. Not a fun phone call. But all is now well, finger is healing fine, and DS has decided guns are not something to toy with...

In the DD arena, it is going as well as could be expected. And her bedroom is in the middle of a remodel, from a night/day type theme, to totally pink, shabby chic. It's actually been fun helping her pick things. But she is doing all the work herself, painting, stripping, etc.

Stitches West

Okay, first off, I was thrilled that Stitches West was at the Santa Clara Convention Center, which is only about 15 minutes from my house, and secondly my DD went with me.

It was packed, thank goodness, I had the forethought to buy my tickets online. When we got there Saturday at around 11:30, it was so crowded in there, you could barely move. There was so much to see. Alot, alot of high priced yarn. I was totally disappointed in the range of yarn. Lots of alpaca, which is fine, except, I just spun up a ton of alpaca which I had gotten for Christmas. Lots and lots of glitzy yarn for scarves. The only things I was thrilled about was the silk hankies I got from Royal Hare, to spin up into a lace weight to make something for DD, and the patterns I purchased from White Lies Designs. After seeing the sweaters in person, it pushed me to purchase the patterns. 9 of them to be exact! All it all, it took us 3 hours to see everything, and we had a great mother-daughter time.

I belong to a wonderful group of people who perform RAOK or Random Acts of Kindness. This is to me such a wonderful idea and should be spread around the world. However, it is obvious that Colorado just doesnt' get this: Colorado Teens Fined for Giving Cookies to Neighbor
