Just some thoughts on my day, my knitting, and life in general

Electric Fans, White Pants & Flip Flops...the begining of summer

Summer begins with Memorial Day weekend in my mind, and I for one, and glad it's here. Though from the looks of it, it is going to be a very busy summer.

Last weekend we took a trip to Las Vegas in the little plane. It took 4 hours to fly there and five to get home. It was a little stressful since I am not much for flying for long lengths of time in the little plane, but we did get to see our best and oldest friends Pete, Mary Beth and Ron, and attend Ron's ordination into the Catholic Priesthood!

I would have posted the one with me in the picture but for some reason, it looks like I'm rolling my eyes (which I probably was!), so you just get this one.

So, I broke down the other day at Target and bought one of those Learn to Knit kits they are selling. The daughter wanted the bathing suit one, so I bought it, though I think that when the cotton gets wet, the suit will grow. Alot!

I spun up some more merino this last week, and I am going to ply it today, and try my hand at kool-aid dyeing tomorrow.

End of high school, rite of passage thingy.

The end of that quote is "Think cotillion with spiked punch and the electric slide." I don't know who said it.

This last weekend was my daughter's junior prom. Actually, it was her friend's junior prom. And if I say so, myself, she was beautiful. She damn well, should have looked beautiful after all the money spent on hair, jewelry, shoes, and having her make-up professionally done. At least we had bought the dress last year, and I didn't have to put the money out for that.

I went to my junior prom with Ricky Sian. He was an hour and a half late, and when we got to the prom, one of his close friends, a chick named Kim, spent the rest of the evening telling me how this was really all a joke, and the only reason he came and picked me up was because his brother made him. And how could I possibly expect anyone to want to go out with me. Blah, blah, blah. By the end of the dance, I was in tears, and went home.

I went stag to my senior prom.

Knitting Content...

I bought a pattern for ballet type slippers the other night. It wasn't much, and it was delivered via email, so that was cool. The not cool thing is that 1. I can't seem to get gauge with any of the cotton yarn I have, and 2) they were coming out huge!!! The pattern seems a little off, and I am sure that I can fix it to my liking if I could just get one knit. It's just that when things don't seem to be working out the way I expect them to, I get extremely frustrated.
